Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

The Platelet-Rich Plasma treatment can be used with microneedling, facial injections, and even used to combat hair loss. In fact, microneedling done in conjuction with the PRP application is ideal for those wishing to smooth fine lines, wrinkles, and lessen the appearance of scars.

What is PRP?

Platelet-Rich Plasma is made of platelets in the blood -- these platelets make wound healing possible. When used as a skin care treatment, PRP promotes and aides growth factors in the skin which strengthen and expedite the body's own natural repair process -- stimulating new collagen and elastin.

What does the treatment entail?

A small sample of your blood is taken and the PRP is extracted from the other components. Then, the PRP is applied topically to the skin. This is typically done after a microneedling treatment in order to achieve the best results. Microneedling allows for the PRP to reach deeper laters of the skin which facilitates optimal wound healing. The treatment will result in plumpness and rejuvenation of the skin overall. Typically, optimal results are seen in 3 to 6 treatments.

How does PRP help with hair loss?

PRP actually stimulates new hair growth. The PRP is injected into the scalp that is suffering from hair loss. The needed number of treatments varies from person to person based on degree of hair loss and other factors. However, for most people, maintenance is done every four months.
